My day has been made :o)

Just for the pure fun of it I was fooling around in my studio and I made 2 slab built plates, one for one of my nieces and one for my friend Shelly's daughter.
I unloaded them from my kiln this morning and delivered the one to Shelly for her daughter so it would be there for her after school.
When Emily got home from school Shelly sent me this picture.
Shelly said she loved it and walked around hugging it! Oh my lord that made me smile inside and out.

I also uploaded new travel mugs and dunk mugs to my Etsy store today!
Here's a sample.

Got cookies?

Some of my cookie monster mugs, each one is hand painted. These were waiting to be clear glazed and fired when the picture was taken. They are actually in my kiln right now glowing a gorgeous red.
Are these not adorable? I absolutely adore this potters work. I wished I knew her name, I'll have to ask the next time I go to Plum Nelly's to drop off some of my pottery. I keep these guys in my studio on a shelf next to my radio, they make me smile every time I see them.

Catching up

I'm been swamped for the past few days and haven't had a chance to catch up on my blog.
I got a nice surprise a few days ago when I was contacted "New Parent" magazine to let me know that they included one of my dunk mugs in their online Valentine Day gift section.
Yay me! This totally made me smile. You know what else makes me smile?
Check this out, I acquired a vintage 1970 owl mold and it arrived today so I immediately poured it.

The cuteness is almost unbearable. It's a little trinket box and I'm totally in love with it. The mold is pretty dang old and a bit fragile so I have to be extra careful with this one. There aren't too many things that I make that I feel like I need to have for myself, I guess because making things and selling them equals I don't get attached, but this little guy is different and I need one for me :o)
Since the mold is so old and fragile he won't be making many appearances in my etsy shop.
So if you see him you better grab him before he's gone.

The Munchies!

The plates I was working on are finally finished and listed in my etsy shop
They are hand built from a slab of clay and hand painted with food safe glazes.

And here they are!
