Sleepless night

I tried to go to bed at a decent hour tonight, but that didn't workout so good.
I've been sitting up in bed reading and surfing the web.
I use to do a 365 days project, taking a self portrait everyday for a year, sometimes I miss that,
but I don't think I have it in me to do it again.
So, here I am tonight, I played with some filters in photoshop
to try an make it look a little less crappy,
but I don't think anything could help it really.I have misplaced my remote again, so it's blurry and well...whatever.

The invasion

My studio has been invaded by blue birds!!!

I made a few of these a couple of weeks ago and I just couldn't bare to sell them. They have taken up residency throughout my home and my studio. So now I'm making them to share with the rest of the world. They are available in my Etsy shop now

Custom order

I woke up early this morning and jumped right into working. Fired my kiln and organized my workspace some more. Last week I got a custom order for a personalized dog treat jar. I threw it this morning on my wheel and I love how it's coming along, the handle is shaped like a dog bone. I can't wait to glaze this baby! I'll post pictures when it's completed.

Last night I worked so much and so late that my elbow is very achy today, potters elbow? Think I'll take it easy tonight and watch tv. I plan on going to the Chattanooga Market tomorrow with my son Levi, hopefully we'll get some strawberries there since I missed out on the Strawberry festival in Dayton, TN today.

late night

My husband left town today for the week which means late nights working for me. I'm a night owl and do most of my best work in the evening, it's so quiet and peaceful.
This evening I glazed an enormous amount of pottery and have loads more to do, which hopefully I'll get done tomorrow. I took a break and looked down and this is what I saw.
What a mess!!!! I got glaze everywhere.
I'm using this new clear glaze, that is what is shown in the photo,I hate it, it has to be the worst clear dipping glaze I have ever used. I'll be switching back to my old glaze soon.
Well...I'm whooped, better call it a night and get some sleep. I have lots planned to get done tomorrow and I'd love to get an early start.

I was cleaning then BAM!

I decided to clean up my studio today, it is a mess. I have stuff all over and I haven't worked there since I quit smoking (today is day 12). I'd been working out of my kitchen just to change up my routine and help break the habit. So I'm organizing and cleaning and throwing stuff out and BAM! I get this idea after coming across a couple of outlet covers and switch plate molds that I purchased from a lady almost 2 years ago (I've never used them until today). Recently I purchased a vintage mold from the 70's of little birds, I just had to have it, didn't know what I was going to do with it, but it was too cute to not have, ya know what I mean?
Well for whatever reason this idea popped into my head and this is what came up with. The cover plates are from molds as are the birds. I added the limbs and the leaf and waa-laa...

I can't wait to glaze these! I'm planning to make the cover white, the bird blue and of course the tree limbs brown. When I was finished building these I decided to add a little leaf to each one just for good measure.

Almost dead

I have to tell you; the past few days have been crazy. I swore I was marked and it was just "my time". I was in downtown Chattanooga and was almost taken out by a speeding truck when I crossed his path. Luckily he swerved and missed me, because I didn't see him until he was right next to me. Closest call I've ever had and if he would have hit me, I doubt I would have walked away. I was so shaken up I actually had to pull over and park for a minute to gather myself.
So that same day I was nearly rear ended twice and cut off (3 different cars at different times), all while in Chattanooga. Early yesterday morning around 7:30am I was driving down the road (shockingly enough... in Chattanooga again), I see some guy on foot up ahead, he runs out into the road across my lane and he stops in the  median turns toward me and points at me what appears to be a hand gun. I swerve a bit and I'm ready to duck when I get closer for when he starts shooting. When I got right up to him the dang fool had a hair brush. Needless to say I damn near had a heart attack. WHO does that kinda crap? Crazy people do evidently and they are drawn to me like moths to a flame.
