My first platter

I recycled some clay last week from my slurry / scrap bucket and made my first platter with some of the clay today.

 I went camping this weekend and came home with the worst case of chiggers. I am an itchy girl, I've just about covered 70% of my body in clear nail polish. If I used red polish I swear it would look like I was bleeding to death.

Keeping busy

My dad called and one of the first things out of his mouth was "are ya busy?" I said "yes, I'm throwing stuff", well you can imagine where that conversation went, he thought I was literally throwing stuff as if I were having a temper tantrum lol. I love that :o)

 

I made some of these bowls several months ago for myself, they are smaller than a cereal bowl, maybe hold about 1.5 cups each. They are the perfect size for snacks and salsa and ice cream! yum :o) So anyways since I use mine so much I figured I'd make a bunch of them for my Etsy shop. I just trimmed the bottoms on these today.

I'm also happy to report I'm still off diet coke, it's been about 3 weeks, it took about 2 weeks for the intense migraine headaches that I was getting everyday to finally stop. I feel good and I've been told that my attitude has improved. I can tell you I feel less stressed out and much more focused. It's funny when you constantly pour caffeine into your system and then stop what happens to your body. I did make the mistake of having a large glass of sweet tea shortly before bed a few nights ago, which left me laying in bed wide awake, I won't do that again.

On another note, my poor sweet nephew broke his arm today on the playground, a fall from the sliding board earned him a spiffy new cast.

  He'll be 6 next week, I'll have to think of something really cool to make for him. I just noticed my sister's time stamp on the picture is wrong, she's a day ahead.

On another note, Christmas orders are coming in, now I really feel like a slacker. I don't Christmas shop until the last minute and I have customers that started months ago.

I kicked my coke habit

I quit diet coke, no particular reason, I just decided that I didn't want to drink it anymore. Today is day 4 and I have had 1 to 2 massive migraine headaches everyday since I quit. I also felt completely drained of energy, caffeine lag? Probably. Today I felt good, besides the headache, energy wise I was good. I'm on water now, much better for me anyways :o)

I loaded my kiln this afternoon and got it fired. I just have to share the greatest invention. 

  Plate stilts! I used them for the first time today and what a space saver.

 I've been doing some hand building and fooling around with slab forms again. I'm pretty anxious to get this piece glazed and fired. When I look out of my studio window I have a view of several trees and a bush. I used leaves from those trees on this dish.  

Organize = the word I hate most

I say and have said for years that I'm going to get organized, why is it so hard? 

Well I started, baby steps right? 

I thought this would be big enough to hold all of my stamps, apparently not, but it's better then what it was.

I use to have my cookie cutters scattered about my studio and look at this... 

I have them in one place now... Ooooo 

1 drawer full

I even cleaned all of my brushes properly and realigned the bristles, sometimes (most of the time) I leave them sitting in the brush holder aka used Chinese food soup container with the bristles down which is stupid because they get bent out of shape, especially if you have a long bristled liner brush. I fixed them all today and will make a note to myself to leave the bristles up.

The Elves have done it again!

My favorite Girl Scout cookies are the samoas, of course every year when they go on sale, I go nuts!

Well... I discovered these in the store tonight.

And then I found myself surrounded by Ninja's

I was sketching on some plates a few days ago, actually preparing to do "cookies for Santa" plates and then Ninja's popped into my head. I had some input from my brother and my friend Elisabeth and this happened.

Perfect for bad ass dinners don't ya think? Don't worry, no harm will come to you unless you don't eat all of your veggies :o) These guys will be available in my Etsy shop hopefully by the weekend.
